OUR ETHOS

At Degusta, our ethos is built on responsibility, respect and care.

We believe great food should be sourced honestly, supplied thoughtfully and supported by a business that values people and the planet as much as quality and flavour.

We hold ourselves to high standards of social and environmental responsibility and continue to measure our progress as we work towards formal accreditation in the future.

Our People

Our people are at the heart of our business. Over the past decade, we have built a strong and loyal team who share our passion for food and service. We believe in fair pay, personal development and creating a workplace based on respect and opportunity. As proud members of the Living Wage Foundation, we invest in our team through competitive salaries, career growth and strong policies around wellbeing, safety and professionalism. The long service of many of our employees reflects the culture we have created.

Our Producers

We place the same value on our relationships with producers. We work directly with local growers in the South West and trusted partners in Spain and across Europe, building long-term partnerships based on transparency, fairness and shared values.

All our Mediterranean imports meet strict European standards for ethical sourcing and sustainable farming, giving us confidence in both quality and integrity.

Our Environmental Impact

Reducing our environmental impact is something we take seriously and continue to work on every day. Wherever possible, we avoid air freight and use sea and road transport instead, helping to lower our carbon footprint. We’re also investing in a cleaner, more efficient fleet, with electric vehicles already in daily use, and over the past year we’ve reduced our average CO₂ emissions per vehicle by 30%. All of the electricity we use comes from renewable sources.

Waste & Resources

Waste reduction is another key focus. Based in Bristol, a city known for its commitment to sustainability, we align ourselves with ambitious recycling and zero-waste initiatives.  Through strong partnerships with our waste management providers, we maximise recycling, minimise landfill and continue to improve how we manage resources.

Our long-term aim is to operate as a zero-waste business.

Doing Things Properly

Our ethos is about steady, meaningful progress. It’s about running a business we are proud of, one that supports its people, respects its producers, looks after its customers and takes responsibility for its impact.
